Hong Kong Innovation Services (HKIS) has successfully serviced China-Israel Water Technology (CIWT) to co-organize the China-Israel Water Technology Seminar in Pingshan District of Shenzhen, on November, 29 2017.

At the Seminar, Dr. Rotem SADE from the Israeli company ToxSorb delivered a presentation titled “ToxSorb Modified Activated Carbon (MAC) – Selective Filtration, Reduction and Waste Minimization”.

According to Ms. LAW Yee Ping, Managing Director of China-Israel Water Technology: “ToxSorb’s innovative technology offers Chinese researchers and companies a new approach. Particularly interesting is the usage of activated carbon technology for the removal of refractory industrial waste”.

 It was the first-time Dr. Rotem SADE visited China, and CIWT arranged a business exchange meeting with Dr. WANG Jun, Deputy Director of Beijing Key Laboratory of Industrial Wastewater Treatment and Resource Recovery, part of the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Aquatic Sciences, the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

ToxSorb uses its proprietary technology called Modified Activated Carbon (MAC), to remove specific pollutants from water.

ToxSorb’s MAC technology is the result of chemical modification of a traditional activated carbon. The MAC technology enables the removal of a wide variety of inorganic pollutants, while maintaining its original adsorption capability for organic pollutants. In addition, the MAC technology allows for reuse of its media, instead of disposal.

Therefore, ToxSorb’s MAC technology has a better performance than traditional ion exchange resins, where in real-life situations the pollutant is competing with other  ions in the water.

ToxSorb’s MAC technology has been successfully proven to remove the following pollutants: Chromium (Cr), Perchlorate (ClO4), Sulfate (SO4), Nitrate(NO3), Nickel (Ni), Copper (Cu), Permanganate (Mn4O), Zinc (Zn), Cyanide (Cn), Lead (Pb) and Silver (Ag).

Moreover, ToxSorb’s technology has been successfully applied in the USA, Europe and in Israel, to successfully remove pollutants from various applications including drinking groundwater and industrial water reuse.

China-Israel Water Technology has already received enquiries to meet Chinese business demands, thus this project is expected to grow into a successful case of innovative collaboration in water technology.
